Oliver Lawson Rare Life-size Passenger Pigeon

In the early 1800's they were the most abundant bird on earth, with populations measuring in the billions, creating flocks that records of the time would say, 'darkened the skies'. It's believed this iconic bird made up an incredible 25-40% of the total bird population in the United States. Shamefully, today the Passenger Pigeon is considered the iconic symbol of human-driven extinction.

Exceedingly rare Passenger Pigeon by Lawson with only 3-4 others known, this being the largest of them. Wonderful vibrant dry paint with a very well sculpted body including raised wings that flow back to slightly elevated wing tip above the tail. Head is slightly turned with carved beak details. Rests on custom base made, and signed, by Lawson. Signed under the belly by Lawson as well.
