Ken Harris Rare Wood Duck Hen

Ken Harris (1905-1981) Woodville, NY, c. 1960's 12" long

Rare hen for this species and an earlier decorative example. The head is turned to the left and has deep eye sockets with large eyes and lightly carved bill details. The body is well sculpted with a dramatic deep cut center line differentiating the wings and leading to a slightly upward swept tail. It's finished in vibrant paint with feathering and other texture carved details combed into the paint. The underside bears the makers white ink stamp.

Condition: Very good and original with shelf wear to include some paint wear to the edge of the bill and tail. Tight neck seam separation on the back of the neck.
