William C. Chipman (1822-1900) and Isaac Sandwich, MA, c. 1860 9 1/2 in. long

These carvings by the Chipman brothers are truly unique, crafted with a completely hollowed-out shell design. The brothers were carpenters who ran a door, sash, and blind shop and were apparently fine craftsman. Original paint with light gunning wear, some age lines, and reset lower edges.
