Geoff Vine Waunakee, WI c.2016 14" long
A builder by trade, Geoff applies his refined craft to his limited output of decoys. Geoff was honored in 2019 by the North American Decoy Collectors Association as their featured carver of the year. Known for his brilliant paint and clean lines, this pair of hollow cedar decoys was crafted with influence from the Delaware River, particularly "Blair" style. The soft paint is applied precisely with tight feather combing across the backs of both decoys. They have brass tack eyes and a cut line in the bill delineating the upper and lower mandible. The bottoms are rigged with a leather line tie and a lead pad weight. Each is signed G. Vine 2016 and bears the makers brass ID tag, another hallmark of the Delaware River influence.
