The catalog record
Charles H. Perdew (1874-1963) Henry, IL, c. 1940 6 in. long
Two of the Perdews' very best miniatures and easily among the finest little decoys from the Midwest. The forms, with thin necks and refined heads, are among Charlie’s best at any scale, and they were finished with elaborate brushwork. Illustrating the pride the Perdews took in these, the lead weights have “CHAS. H. PERDEW, Henry, Illinois.” stamped in gold.
This pair received special treatment for their patron Louis H. Barkhausen, an original board member and past president of Ducks Unlimited. Barkhausen's gunning rig is also known for having received special treatment from Perdew. Collector and Perdew book publisher David Galliher then collected these and featured them in the Perdew book. He is also known for owning the finest known life-size Perdew mallard drake, seen on the dust jacket of the book. Original paint with light wear, and touch-up to drake's reset neck.
