Ira Hudson (1873-1949) Chincoteague, VA, c. 1910

The catalog record
Ira Hudson (1873-1949) Chincoteague, VA, c. 1910 This goose displays Ira Hudson's very best form and paint, with deep ice groove behind the neck and nicely fluted tail carving. Relatively few Hudson Geese in this pose are known to exist, this bird's retention of its excellent original paint make it all the more rare. The well proportioned head has fat cheeks. Retains large original pad weight. Original paint with even gunning wear. A crack along left side has been professionally filled. Some areas of flaking paint. Age line runs from the top of head to back of neck, with another running along the back of the bird.
