Howard Hoatley (1888-1937) Milford, CT c.1920's 16" long
As decoys of the Stratford School of carving continued to rise with the prominence of Charles "Shang" Wheeler, Howard of Milford, CT chose to make his decoys in modified Milford School style. The black duck is hollow carved down the mid-line and is held together by numerous nails. The lead weight is poured into the bottom. The bill is sturdy, and the head has scratch feather paint.
