The catalog record
Wilbur R. Corwin (1852-1914) Bellport, Long Island, NY, c. 1875 This racy goose displays a pronounced breast with a slightly-dropped paddle tail. Corwin decoys are known for their root heads. Since the neck of a root head is naturally thin, Corwin would attach a few wood patches, approximately 1by 2 inches, to the neck base to provide additional support. A hole in bottom for use as a stick up; still rigged with a large pad weight for use as a floater. Old paint with gunning wear; worn to wood in places; some age lines. Having all the wear and patina you would expect to find in a 125-year-old goose block. Natural opening in root head under cheek.
