The catalog record
William Folger (1820-1895) (attr.) Nantucket, MA, c. 1850 An early, painted-eye shorebird decoy displaying classic split tail form and carved wings. The pattern of this plover, the depth of the split tail, and the incised wing cuts are closely linked to those seen in the famous Folger rig curlews (see lot 336). Original paint with light craquelure, light even gunning wear, and an old chip to tail.
