Sam Denny Rare Unused Bluebill Drake

Sam Denny (1874-1953) Clayton, NY, c.1940 14.25" long

Never used and in fantastic condition. The decoy was purchased directly from Denny by a gentleman who would later in life move out to the mid-west. This, along with two other original Denny's and a few other river birds sat in boxes for decades, even after being inherited by his son.

The decoy has combed feather paint across the back and a broad bill with nostrils and a carved line where the bill meets the face. The underside has the inset rigging loop.

x-ray shows the classic back neck nail used by Denny to support his heads.
