Mike Borrett Rare Flying Raven Carving

Mike Borrett (b. 1960) Madison, WI 24 in. wingspan

This work has textured feather detail, an incised tail, an open bill, and the maker's incised "BORRETT" on the back. The raven species gained notoriety thanks to Edgar Allen Poe's wildly popular poem entitled "The Raven." As a testament to the importance of the poem and the poet, Baltimore's National Football League team was named the Ravens in honor of Poe, who was from Maryland. Original paint with light wear.
