John Wood Mallard Pair

John "Jack" Wood Hamilton, NJ c.2014 Hen 14.25" long | Drake 15.75" long

Excellent pair of working mallards. Hollow carved with well sculpted bodies including side pocketing and a mid-line down the back to form the wings. Wing tips are raised and crossed. Drake has a metal tail curl and tight comb painting across the back and sides to texture the surface imitating feathers. The drakes head is turned off to the left, and the hen is in a content resting position. Both have glass eyes and carved bill details. Both are rigged for use with leather line ties and triangular lead pad weights in the style of is carving mentor and friend, Bob White. Both are signed and dated by the maker on the underside.

Condition: Near mint. Some inner paint flaking on the drakes tail curl, tiny and tight crack in hens left tail tip.
