Charles E. "Shang" Wheeler (1872-1949) Stratford, CT c.1890's 15.5" long
Early cork bluebill hen decoy. In his book "Connecticut Decoys" Henry Chitwood described Wheelers early cork decoys in the following way, "Wheeler, simply constructed cork-bodied scoter with a well-carved head."
Condition: Original with original keel. Retains its original rigging. The light paint is mostly worn off the body.
