Herring Gull Confidence Decoy Cameron T. McIntyre (b. 1968) New Church, VA, c. 1991 19" long

Solid bodied Herring Gull confidence decoy carved as a Christmas present in 1991, making this a rather early carving for Cameron. The decoy is carved in a slight forward swimming position. The head is very slightly turned to the left with glass eyes sitting in carved out eye grooves on either side of the head. The bill carved details are particularly deep where the bill meets the face and the upper and lower beak meet.

Cameron's work has been covered in numerous publications from Decoy Magazine to Garden & Gun. His work has been displayed in numerous one-man and small group shows across the country. Privately his work resides in some of the best collections across the country, sitting along side many of the master pieces he has studied throughout his life.
