Obediah Verity (1813-1901) Seaford, Long Island, NY, c. 1880 7 1/2 in. long

A racy beach bird with excellent form and all of the strong features collectors prize in a Verity, including a well-proportioned body, carved eyes, raised S-wing carving, V-shape primary carving, and excellent stippled paint. Obediah Verity's carving and painting prowess have long been heralded as the apex of the Seaford school. Original paint with even gunning wear.
