Captain George Combs Sr. Stickup Seagull Decoy

Large hollow carved seagull with a drilled hole to be used as a stick-up confidence decoy. The thick original paint has aged nicely creating a desirable surface. Bill details are nicely carved with deep eye grooves and glass eyes. The body is sculpted with raised shoulders and pocketing where they come together at the base of the neck. The wingtips are applied carved pieces of wood held on with two nails each. The rounded bottom is signed in ink and dated in pencil though the decade numeral is illegible.

Condition: Very good and original with minimal working wear with a chip on one of the wing tips and some paint loss at the base of the backside of the neck. The seam lines around the applied wings and top and bottom half has worn.
