John Blair, Sr. Mallard Hen

Since Bill Mackey acquired this decoy some 60+ years ago, much has been learned about the decoys of the Philadelphia School. At the time this was considered to be a decoy from the Blair family, and is so written in the restoration notes on the underside that date back to the early 1970's. However today it is very likely simply a Philadelphia School decoy that took notes from noted carvers John Blair Sr. and A.B. Vance (1818-1889).

The solid body decoy bears a blurred ink "Mackey" collection stamp on the underside. The restoration note says the restoration was completed in 1974 by Bob (illegible).
