The catalog record

Lloyd Tyler (1898-1970) Crisfield, MD, c. 1935 This decoy epitomizes the American bird decoy as folk art with its pronounced cheek, crowned head, and arrow shaped paddle tail carving. The highly stylized paint pattern is true to the species and yet has a geometric quality. In very good original paint with a few minor rubs to the back and head. A few hairline cracks along the back original to the wood, some filler along a crack in the underside.

Literature: Henry H. Stansbury, Lloyd J. Tyler: Folk Artist and Decoy Maker, Lewes, MD, 1995, p. 39.
