Joel D. Barber (1876-1952) Wilton, CT, c. 1920 16" long

Hollow carved "Modern" black duck. He utilized his architect skills to imagine decoys in his famous watercolors and tried his hand at many practical decoy styles in his effort to find the "perfect" decoy. Unique hollow design with a canvas covered bottom.

Condition: Working paint, some paint flaking on head and neck and around the edge of the bottom. Keel has long been removed.
