Alonzo Foster Eskimo Curlew

Alonzo Foster Hampton Bays, NY, c. 1880 10 1/4 in.

A rare curlew carving with the maker's celebrated green plumage and blended paint. It bears a museum code "A51.158" in red paint on the underside. Original paint with light gunning wear, replaced bill is broken off.
