Joe King Ruddy Turnstone
Joe King (1835-1913) Parkertown, NJ, c. 1875

The catalog record
Joe King (1835-1913) Parkertown, NJ, c. 1875 To our knowledge this is the only turnstone by King to have come to light, with nice incised heart-shaped wing and subtle cheek carving.
Most of the paint is worn away, but enough remains to positively identify the bird as a turnstone. Hit by shot, some roughness to the top of head. There is a check out of the side of the head. The bill is a replacement.
Provenance: Noyes Collection Gary Giberson Collection
Literature: "Noyes Museum Goes Year 'Round," Decoy Magazine March/April 1987, p. 45, exact bird.
