The catalog record
A. Elmer Crowell (1862-1952) East Harwich, MA, c. 1912 This goose displays Crowell's early rocked-back head pattern with beautifully blended paint and a nice patina. This form is rarely seen and for that reason Joseph H. Ellis featured a similar example on the cover of his book. The pattern, dated 1917, for this example is also featured on the acknowledgements, the foreword, and the introduction pages of Brian Cullity's book The Songless Aviary: The World of A.E. Crowell and Son. Original paint with a minimal wing tip chip.
Provenance: William V. Tripp III Collection
