Mark S. McNair (b. 1950) Craddockville, VA, c. 1980 14.5" long

Early folky carving with an inserted bill and small glass eyes. Carved in the "Brown-Back" style. This folky style of shorebird carving was discovered and well documented by both Bill Mackey and Adele Earnest, leaving an impression on Mark. He has carved a couple species in this racy style with few coming to market. The early all capital letters "McNair" is carved into the underside.
