William "Bill" Joeckel (1921-2010) Islip Terrace, Long Island, NY c.1980's 17.75" long

Swimming merganser hen with great life-like posture. The head is slightly forward and off to the left. The bill is highly detailed with carved teeth separating the upper and lower mandible. The head is rasped and gets more pronounced on the back of the neck and crest. The side pockets are deeply carved with carved primary feathers windowing the carved speculums. The wing tips are raised and separated. Carved tail feathering.

Condition: Very good and original, neckline seam is visible with a small spot of paint flaking along the seam line near the front of the neck. Minor shelf wear throughout.
