Gus Wilson Swivel Head Old Squaw Hen
Augustus Wilson (1864-1950) South Portland, ME, c. 1940

The catalog record
Augustus Wilson (1864-1950) South Portland, ME, c. 1940 This clever design by Maine's master carver must have made for a very animated gunning rig as the heads would have rotated realistically in Maine's rough coastal waters. Subtle incised eye, bill, nostril, mandible, raised-wing and incised tail carving. The head is held on by a spike nail that is intended to allow the head to rotate 360 degrees. Original rectangular pad weight. In strong original paint.
