Shorebird Rig & Carrying Case - Reggie Birch
The catalog record
Reggie Birch (b. 1953) Chincoteague, VA Box is 12.5" tall x 15" wide x 7.25" deep All shorebirds are roughly 8.5" long
Complete set of antiqued chip carved shorebirds with an aged wooden carrying case. Complete with a few shorebird rig sticks and a few bills for replacements from damage in the field.
The shorebirds are all relatively similar. Plump bodies with deep protruding breasts, painted eyes, inserted bills, and a chip carved surface. All are peppered with shot holes. Each is branded RWB, for the makers initials.
Condition: Very good and original as aged by artist. One bill is broken off, numerous bills are in the box, a few bills seem applied in different ways and it may be how they were made to show the historical accuracy of constantly broken shorebird beaks.
