The catalog record
Oscar L. Crowell (b. 1917) Smithville, Nova Scotia, c.1974 A nice sea duck decoy by this Canadian maritime decoy carver. Carved bill detail, raised carved wings, and tail carving make this a classic decoy. Incised "O. L. Crowell." Crowell made a few scoter in 1930, but when the depression hit, he put his decoys away for a while. In 1974 he began carving again and completed this rig. In very good original condition; faint age line in neck. This decoy was never rigged.
