The catalog record
Wendell Smith Chicago, IL, c. 1900 One of the better Illinois River coot decoys that we have come across. Unusual construction with eye-groove, pronounced throat, upswept tail and two-primary circular wing carving, inletted bill design, superb scratch comb paint.
In original paint with minor nicks, rubs and flaking, hairline crack through the head, slight neck and body seam separations.
