Jake Barrett Rare Bufflehead Pair

Jake Barrett (1880-1945) Somers Point, NJ c.1900 11.75" long

An excellent and rare matched pair of early and original hollow carved New Jersey buffleheads from the turn of the century. Both have heads carved in a slightly forward swimming posture with painted eyes and deep relief carving where the face meets the bill. Bears original thin lead inlet weight on the bottom.

Condition: Original paint with minor wear; moderate wear on lower halves; tiny dents.
