The catalog record
Charles M. Bergman (1856-1946) Astoria, OR, c. 1920 A classic hollow mallard drake by one of the West Coast’s premier carvers. Bergman was a boat builder and his craftsmanship is evident in the construction of his decoys. The lines of his decoys are clean and stylized in both the carving and the paint, creating a consistently appealing decoy that was often imitated. In original paint with craquelure and gunning wear. A crack in the neck has been reset.
