The catalog record
Hurley Conklin (1913-1983) Manahawkin, NJ, c. 1940 According to Hurley Conklin expert, Jamie Hand, who apprenticed under the carver, this is the earliest pair of wood ducks by the maker he has ever seen. Made before Conklin had a brand, they were never weighted. They display raised primary carvings. In very good original condition with very light wear from handling. The hen has some wear to the bottom; the drake has a tail chip, a hairline crack through the bill and an age line along the bottom.
